“THE BASIS OF A BRILLIANT HAIRSTYLIST, OR COLORIST….IS AN ARTIST…SOMEONE WHO IS NOT AFRAID TO TRANSFORM YOU…WHO HAS HAD EXPERIENCE IN CREATIVITY, BALANCE, AND HARMONY…SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN WORKING WITH A PALETTE OF COLORS AND HAS HAD AN UNDERSTANDING WITH THE CHEMISTRY OF THE COLOR WHEEL AND ITS VERY IMPORTANT LAWS…HAVING WORKED WITH THESE LAWS MOST OF HIS/HER LIFE…AND WAY BEFORE THEY BECAME A COSMETOLOGIST.”

Hey I’m Matthew! I have been involved with the beauty industry since I was 14 years old. I started off my career journey here in Waxhaw, by becoming a makeup artist. Throughout years I found my life’s passion, doing hair. Now every day I go to work to make people feel great about themselves, it thrills me! It makes my soul shine when I can cut someone’s hair or change their outlook and boost their self-esteem. Runways and fashion shows are fun, but I could not imagine myself doing anything other than what I am doing right now. Working with people one on one to help fulfill their dreams.
I am a graduate of Continental School of Beauty in New York. Growing up I always loved art and hair-styling, from there my passion for cosmetology took off! With an eye for creative hair-styling, I specialize in updos as well as helping you create your everyday styles while in my chair. I love getting to know and understanding the personalities and lifestyles of my clients. This is key when working with my clients to create the best looks and styles for each individual.
Several years ago, as a client, I had received my first facial. Walking out of the spa, I realized skin care was where my life passion resided. In the past I, myself, had struggled with improper skin care, like so many do. After experiencing this personal eye opening experience, I pursed my career in esthetics, earning my Esthetician License in 2008. After gaining the expertise, I had learned skin is the largest organ involved in the human body, healthy skin care is vital to your overall health. Passing on the knowledge of maintaining, preserving and repairing skin; all while pampering others really is fulfilling. I’ve realized that when people look better, they feel better! So it’s a great feeling to be able to contribute to a person’s self esteem and self image. Looking forward to meeting you soon at the Colorbar Hair Salon and Day Spa!
I have worked in childcare for over 20 years and wanted a career change. To be able to be home more for my children. I studied Massage at Branford Hall Career Institute in CT. I received my CT License in March 2015. I am certified member of American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) as well as the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (AMBP).
While in CT, I worked as a therapist in a wellness center as well as within clients homes. I moved to North Carolina in July 2015 and received my NC license in Massage and Bodywork Therapy. Now that I am in North Carolina I have continued my work in wellness centers as well as with private clients in their homes. My approach to massage therapy is practical and focused. I am careful and sensitive to the concerns of my clients and offer them a variety of self-care alternatives. I continue to learn additional skills and advanced techniques in the field of wellness and healing to bring to enhance my clients experience.
Hey I’m Amber Cox, I am originally from Charlotte, NC, but have lived in Monroe for a couple of years now. I am a mom and a wife, I love every minute of it. I was in the Army National Guard for three years and I went to school for EMT Basic. I am CPR certified and I also have an associates degree in Criminal Investigations. I have always liked the idea of being a receptionist, but never thought I would be one, especially at The Color Bar. I enjoy my job and I enjoy meeting new people.
Hey my name is Natalie! I have been working in customer service for about seven years now. I graduated high school back in 2014 and attended classes at South Piedmont Community College! My goal was to be an ultrasound technician. I got certified as a CNA (certified nurse assistant) and quickly figured out that wasn’t for me! I took a break from school and recently, I have decided to pursue a degree in marketing and advertising! I now take classes online through South Piedmont Community College. I love working at the Color Bar! Everyone is friendly and welcoming, with a positive attitude! When I’m not at the Color Bar I am at home with my 4 dogs who I love as my children! Call me to make an appointment!
